Multisensory Learning

Multisensory instruction activates multiple senses in the learning process. Listed below ways we can activate all sensory modes to increase learning!

How We Make Math Multisensory Through Zoom

Physical and Kinesthetic:

  • Virtual Manipulatives

    • Making use of online virtual manipulatives allows students to move objects around on a screen to connect concrete visuals to abstract concepts.

Visual:

  • Screen sharing

    • Zoom Screen Sharing Feature allows videos, diagrams, pictures, and other visuals to be displayed within seconds.

  • Color Coding

    • We can easily use color coding with Zoom’s annotate and whiteboard feature or draw colored diagrams. Using apps like Goodnotes to project a blank screen and using laser pointer, highlighter, and shape drawing tools.

Audial/Hearing:

  • Repeating words, using nicknames to simplify complex topics
