Kelsey S, M.Ed., (she/her/hers)
EF Specialist
Hi! My name is Kelsey Sinclair. I grew up in Idaho and Colorado and have always had a passion for learning, social connection and outdoor activities. My free time is spent surfing, playing beach volleyball, skiing or spending time with my family. I find joy in helping others discover their strengths and potential. I completed a BA in sociology and played college soccer at Westmont College. As a young adult I coached gymnastics, interned with Special Olympics and was a pediatric developmental therapist. I ventured into education as a paraprofessional and worked as a special education teacher for over eight years. While I was teaching I completed my Masters in Education with an emphasis on Educational Therapy. I currently hold Education Specialist and Multiple Subject teaching credentials.
Tapping into each student’s unique interests and abilities has been a passion of mine. Through my various experiences, I enjoyed finding out about each individual student and how he/she learned best. I developed a middle school program for students with autism at a Title I middle school, implementing inclusion and peer-mentoring. I later managed the special education program at a public charter school and led a team of paraprofessionals in supporting all K-5 students with Individualized Education Plans. Students with ADHD, Autism and learning disabilities were given specific goals and instruction to address skills in executive functioning and self-advocacy.
As a teacher, I worked with many students who were brilliant in their unique knowledge and abilities but low-achieving at school. I could not settle for just “helping” or accommodating these students, but instead chose to work hard to support them in recognizing their strengths, understanding their individual learning styles and increasing their independence in any environment. I was delighted to see my students thriving and showing off their skills sometimes after only a few sessions! I am excited to have the opportunity to come alongside you or your child in a path of self-discovery and growth.
