James Bylund, Psy.D.
Licensed Educational Psychologist
Dr. Bylund earned his Master’s in Education and Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from San Diego State University. He then went on to complete his Doctor of Psychology in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis in Neuropsychological Assessment and Intervention, from Alliant International University. Dr. Bylund is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, Diplomate of the American Board of School Neuropsychology, and board certified in neurofeedback.
Over his career Dr. Bylund has worked as a School Psychologist, SELPA Program Specialist, District Director of Student Support Services, Licensed Educational Psychologist in private practice, Owner/Director of The Bylund Clinic. He is also a co-founder of the non-profit TechHealthy.org, which aims to empower families, schools, and mental health providers to protect their children, students, and clients from risks associated with technology overuse and misuse.
In addition to his work as a psychologist, Dr. Bylund has served as a university instructor (SDSU, AIU, BU) teaching courses in psycho-educational assessment, neuropsychological assessment, best practices in school psychology, and special education law. Dr. Bylund has published numerous articles and presented on a wide range of topics covering psycho-educational and neuropsychological assessment (dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, emotional disturbance), internet addiction, trauma, mental health assessment and intervention, comprehensive and legally defensible psycho-educational evaluation, neuroplasticity, mindfulness based interventions, motivational interviewing, developing sense of efficacy and intrinsic motivation, second language acquisition, and cultural competence in school psychology.
